Ready.gov is a website maintained by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to help citizens get prepared. You can find many helpful resources here including:
- Emergency alerts and warnings to keep you informed about potential disasters in your area
- Preparedness toolkits for specific types of emergencies, such as hurricanes, wildfires, and floods
- Information on creating a family communication plan and a plan for pets and animals
- Tips on building a preparedness kit and maintaining emergency supplies
- Resources for individuals with disabilities, seniors, and those with access and functional needs
- Information on how to prepare your home for emergencies, including securing furniture and appliances, and shutting off utilities
- Guidance on emergency evacuation, including how to plan and what to do during an evacuation
